Missions Conference.

Went for missions conference today.
Realised i can't consider church-planting in the next few years.
Cuz i'm deep in debt.
Sigh.

But missions conference today reminded me once again how tiny Sinagapore is. How we should never be contented with what outreaching within Singapore, but should always have a burden for people overseas, and think globally.

I've always admired church-planters. Humble yet noble people they are. To give up their comfortable lifestyles, to adapt to a totally different culture, to be spiritually independent yet totally dependent on God.


I am so utterly humbled when i see their sacrifices and the work they've done.


The last part of the conference was to commission Eelee for Chile. Ps Dinah led the whole church into prayer for her. And i teared. I think many others did too. All whom her life has impacted. At the end of the prayer, Ps Dinah shared a prophetic verse for Eelee. And i teared even more, because i feel that this verse is really apt. Eelee, i pray that you'll cling on to this verse tightly throughout your Chile trip. And as God continue to mold you, may He also bless all the works of your hands.


Romans 12:11-12
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.


Eelee's Farewell Part II

Yes, it is Eelee's farewell part II. But I believe she has gone through many many farewell sessions already. haha. This time round, it's with members of my first cg! How nostalgic is that! Haha. That was like... 7-8 years ago for me, and longer still for others, cuz i'm the youngest! hahahhaha. I'M THE YOUNGEST. (SIA STOP CALLING ME AUNTIE OKAY? lol.) Okay, anyway, we went to My Secret Garden.

Crayfish and Scallop Spaghetti in tomato sauce.

The food's pretty good. Cuz i ordered the right thing. LOL. And the Triple Choc MELTS once it touches your tongue. Heard the steak's okay only. But the ambience is fantastic. It's like those kind where couples go and whisper sweet nothings. Feels guilty that we laughed so loudly. Hee.

It's really heartwarming to see us gather together after so many years. Some of us left church and came back. All of us went on to serve in different ministries, as leaders, as musicians, in tertiary and in adults. Yet the fundamentals remained the same, to love God and to love people.

Growing old with you guys. I'm enjoying it thus far.

Farewell for Eelee.

Off to Chile on Saturday night.
For two whole years of church planting.

When i first heard the news, i was quite surprised. Cuz she had been talking about it all along, and HEY, now she's really going church planting! The second thought that came to my mind is "Eelee 长大了。" Not that i'm older than her. But really, she has grown alot over the years that i know of her. She has always been a role model for me. Am really glad that now she's taking this step of faith to venture out of her comfort zone, to do something she's convicted about, and to impact lives beyond the shores of Singapore.

It's a nudge for me personally.
I got to spur myself on towards more growth.
Holy discontentment.

Okay, anyway, there we were, in Siam Kitchen, Hougang Mall. Eelee, daniel, debbie, junhuang and me. The food's pretty good.



And we had some time of catching up and sharing. Somehow, whenever we gather like this, the main topic always seems to revolve around courtship and marriage, and whether we've spotted any potential partners. lol. When it comes to courtship and stuff like that, i'm really leaving it all to God. Just focus on building friendships and when time comes, i pray everything will fall into place. Okay, we talked about Eelee's mission and Junhuang's job too.

Okay lah. Enough crapping. Went to watch Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End with a bunch of people. Hahha. Too many le, lazy to list out.



I didn't watch Pirates 1, only watched Pirates 2. Stepped into the cinema with a certain anticipation. For my dear johnny and for tons of laughter. But, was quite disappointed with Pirates 3. Firstly, the plot was suspiciously non-existent, making it draggy. Secondly, it wasn't as funny as Pirates 2. ALTHOUGH dear johnny did a fantastic job, as usual. Jack the monkey is very funny too! hahhahha.

At the end of the movie, after the credits, there's a pathetically short scene of Will and Elizabeth. It's so short that i regretted waiting for ~10mins of rolling credits just for that few seconds. Wait if you have lots of time to spare.

We are all born into this world.
Not by choice.
Perhaps it's our parents', maybe it's an 'accident'
Or is everything pre-ordained?
Or is it like what jiankai says, we all evolve from one cell?


We eat, we study, we work, we get married.
We have kids, we grow old, we become sick and we all die.


100 years down the road, who remembers us?
What do we leave behind after we die?
Or are we all victims of a cruel game,
in which we play along only to realise that at the end of everything, the cards are reshuffled and everything starts all over again?
Or like sia says, we she live because we're she's afraid to die? *!!*



So, do you have an answer to this question?
I'm in no position to criticize your answer.
It's your life, your choice.
But whatever your answer is, it better be worthwhile to live for.

Afterall, life is one long tough journey.

updates!
Unicamp.
feel really refreshed after the unicamp. it's like a getaway from all worries and hassles of daily-living, and just immerse myself in God's presence, His word, and the fellowship of His people. VERY REFRESHING.

Among the many things that i've learnt through the camp, one of which i wanna share about is the Moses' Challenge. The Moses' Challenge was when we were led to walk around pasir ris beach in circles WITH OUR BARANG BARANG, just like the Israelites when they left Egypt for the promised land. During this long walk, we were also faced with many challenges that tested our unity and patience.



Through this, i caught a tiny glimpse of how the Israelites felt during those 40 years in the desert. And i've always thought of the Israelites as a bunch of complaining people. Imagine walking around EVERY DAY for FORTY YEARS!

After chatting with sweeleong today, i found out that the planning committee has planned for the challenges to be seemingly impossible to arouse the sense of frustration, and that rules were left vague so as to invoke creativity and unity. Really thank God for the camp committee, they had to act as the devil throughout the whole challenge... 难为他们了。

：noun，一群剪了所谓helmet头的团体，因为剪了helmet头后，有可能会看起来像一粒肉丸，所以命名为肉丸帮，成立于2007年5月20日。




钢盔头，俗称helmet头。

最先掀起钢盔头热风的人，就是咱们的曹大爷哦。

my 4th post for today.
what does it mean?


Is it that you are working - or even playing - too hard? Because it would seem that you are experiencing a great deal of pent-up emotion at this time which could possibly take effect and lead to irrational behaviour.

Most people are conditioned by their environment and you are no exception. You are an extremely emotional person - so much so that 'the wrong word' can lead you to tears. You feel other people's pain. You feel the need of sympathetic relationships and a pleasant work environment in order to develop and grow. You are an impulsive, loving individual with a great deal of inherent feeling.

We had a farewell for Christine and Edwin yesterday at Sakura Intl Buffet.

=D Really wanna appreciate them for all they've done in the NUS ministry.
Edwin is a faithful brother who is constantly stepping out of his comfort zone to serve despite his fear of public speaking. Christine has taken up the challenge to rise up as a CL last semester, to take care of us, and has seemingly pitless patience and a ever-so-sweet and encouraging spirit.

Though this meal may have burnt quite a hole in some of our pockets, it's worth it because we really wanna appreciate them and give them the best. =)

作工做的那么努力，死了后，就能的到奖赏吗？
人生短短。
把自己弄得那么忙，是为了什么啊？

Levels.
Auto Contrast and Auto Levels sometimes clip highlights and shadows.
Levels is the manual version of these auto functions.
Image>Adjustments>Levels.
Shift the 2 side pointers to where the tone distribution first start and end.
The middle pointer adjusts the midtones without affecting the highlight or shadows.
Eyedroppers are for us to manually choose darkest/white/grey points. Eyedropper in grey point can be used for overall colour change.



Curves.
Image>Adjustments>Curves.
CLicking and dragging the line creates anchor points.
Pulling it up lightens the midtones, and dragging it down darkens the midtons.
Adding more anchor points creates more complex shapes.
Remove achor points by dragging them off the graph.



Until now, i still can't use curves well. It's takes practice, and it relies solely on what we see the on-screen preview. I guess i still don't trust myself very much.



Color Balance.
Image>Adjustments>Color Balance.
But usually I don't know what is it with the picture that I want to change.
Hence, Image>Adjustments>Variations.
I think this function is super cool. It allows previews of all changes possible, and you can adjust the level of fineness too. wow.

Pretty self-explanatory.



Hmmm, let's end with something more interesting.


Paint and texture.


The sky, the beach and some sand.


Filter>Artistic, etc.
One of the first features I started playing around with. =)
Try to choose pictures with less detail, cuz much of which will be lost.
Some tips...
ONE: Lighten images for a more realistic watercolor.
TWO: Combine paint effects with texturizer. Filter>Texture>Texturizer.
THREE: Create an edge around the image. How? Hee. To be continued...

Tah-dah~!

Washed-out the image using levels. Apply watercolor. Texturize with canvas. Created an edge for more realism.

那只虾嘛……我只能说我第一次和女孩子出来唱k，唱那么多男生的歌也！
是一整排一整排的周杰伦、陶吉吉也。
但，也不能忘记那一整排的S.H.E哦。

ecp stayover was about celebrating the END of exams and the START of hols. yippee.
it was really free and easy on the first night.
we played ostracize pig, polar bear, and daidee. *grins*

the next day was a series of games + lack of sleep syndrome.
first was untangle thyself, then dodgeball, and finally sandcastle-building competition.
and... the final winner is... the PROGRAMMING TEAM~!! wahhaha. so dots.
in the end, the programming team built the nicest sandcastle and beat the rest of us all. lol.
nevertheless, group ONE won untangle + dodgeball. so, yay~!


after the games, we toasted to a brand new life.
and the guys started a series of dumping-others-into-the-sea-is-so-fun game.

Welcome to Photoshop 1101E, or also known as PT1101E.

the reasons for this:
1. for myself to keep a record of what i've learnt.
2. for all out there who wants to learn more about photoshop.



Okay. Brief introduction.
Learning photoshop's part of my to-do things for this holidays. And it's user-friendly. Which makes learning very productive and encouraging. The version I'm using is Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0 I seriously can't remember how on earth it had itself landed here in my laptop. It's either my bro who installed it for me, or it came along with my k800i installation package. Either way, it's a good deal. The book I'm using now for guidance is called "the digital photographer's handbook". It's full of pictures, and offers step-by-step instructions. Goodie good. But it uses version 6.0 as reference. So there's a slight difference. The instructions here will strive to be as concise as possible, no further explanations whatsoever. So, here we go.



The Bare Essentials.


This was my tutorial picture. One of my fav ecp pics.

ONE: To correct exposure.
Choose Image>Adjustments>Auto Contrast.
If there is also a color cast, choose Image>Adjustments>Auto Levels.

TWO: To sharpen image.
Choose Filter>Sharpen>Unsharpen Mask.
'Amount' :: changes the strength of sharpening. usually <120.>
'Radius' :: increases the contrast of edges, so picture appears more sharp. usually >10.
'Theshold' :: Defines how different two areas need to be to constitute an edge.


Cropping.
Is simple. Just click and drag.
But the effects...
ONE: Bring more focus unto the subject.
TWO: Create vertical/horizontal paranomic frame.
THREE: Straighten up skewed horizons, by cropping, rotating, and cropping again.


At the end of tutorial.
What i did to it. First, Auto Levels to correct exposure. Then Unsharpen Mask. Then double-crop it to make the sea level level. haha.


Okay, this post is getting longer than i thought.
To end off.

The Fisheye Effect.
ONE: Choose a picture where the main subject is as near to the lens and to the centre of the frame as possible.


GARY.

TWO: If picture is rectangular, crop it, or squash it into a square.
Choose Image>Image Size.
Uncheck 'Contrain Proportions' and change the longer dimension to match the shorter one.
THREE: Select the entire image and choose Filter>Distort>Spherize.
Set the amount to 100%, normal mode.
FOUR: Using Circular Marquee, make a circular selection of the spherized area.
Hold down the shift key to produce a perfect circle.
Right-click, choose Select Inverse.
Then drop Paint to paint the entire background black, except the spherized area.
FIVE: For the sense of realism, invert the selection again and use Filter>Render>Lens Flare.

听起来，很熟悉。不懂在哪儿听过。

方大同，是个适合拍侧脸的人。
因为正面的他，看起来还真够怪的呢。

至于他的《If you leave me now》嘛，本小姐还是比较喜欢原唱的。哈。

唉~最近蛮多不错的CD推出，可是……偶没钱啦~！哼。

看了《盛夏光年》。



好久没一个人去看电影了。
但实在不能想象和朋友一起看两个男人裸露时的尴尬。
本想一大清早就去戏院的，但不自爱的眼睛，中午才舍得张开。


三点多的戏。
我和走道隔了个位。心想，应该没有人会想要买那个位吧。
谁想和陌生人看gay片啊？
结果呢，你们应该都猜到了。
不认识我的人，应该都会误会我身旁的男生是我的男友吧。-.-



害得我看电影、吃爆米花都觉得不自在。每咬一口都是小心翼翼地。



《盛夏》算是支艺术片吧。
其实呢，我喜欢看艺术片。
喜欢它缓慢的节奏，因为人生就是这样啊，谁能在两个半小时内出世，成长，结婚，生小孩啊。
也喜欢不需为身旁朋友会不会想吃我手中的爆米花而担心。


不过，和其他艺术片一样的是，戏中有许多我不明白的。
慧嘉和守恒在一起，是因为喜欢他，还是为了报复……还是只是因为寂寞？
那，守恒又为什么会想要和正行那个啊？他不是只把正行当好朋友吗？
而，他们三人之间的关系，究竟是啥啊？！
觉得，这些问题，想通了也好，想不通也罢。


因为有些事，是不需要太明白的。





觉得，康正行，长得有点像jason。SoC year1 那个。哈。
总之，喜欢看艺术片的，应该去看看这部片。
